For a "Touch" MP3 Media Player, it is very capable. You can store multiple formats other than music files, like pictures and videos. Transfering files was plug and play. Battery is VERY long. I use it for about an hour a day, for 12 days until I have to recharge it. There are some things that are average but aren't deal breakers. The navigation speed of the player isn't as smooth as an Apple iTouch, and to register a selection you need to use the tip of your finger for the best results. Also when recharging it the first time, my computer didn't recognize the device so I could add more music. A quick fix was to reinstall device drivers by letting the computer redetect it again (I'm on Windows 7). This MP3 player otherwise does exactly what I need, and is simple and easy to use. If you don't need Apps or wifi browsing, get this.

Windows Only?
Almost no file/media freedom with this device.
We have a Mac/Linux household and this thing *barely* connects on Mac and doesn't connect at all to Linux.

In theory, the player supports either the well-known and common 'Mass Storage' or the secret Windows-only "MTP" protocol for transferring files.
In practice, Mass Storage locks up the USB subsystem on the Mac and Linux computers. e.g. my printer stops working if the player is connected in Mass Storage mode.
MTP mode works on a mac *only* with Coby's software. It doesn't seem to be able to be used with iTunes. There are weird issues with moving files on and off the device if you use Finder.
Windows users would probably like the device. The Mac Linux crowd should stay far, far away.

Q:
is this product better than the Sony E Series 8GB Walkman® Video MP3 Player
Asked on 2/22/2011 by Anonymous from chicago, illinois
That would depend on what you would be using the media player for specifically. I noticed that this item is 4GB and the Sony you mentioned is 8 GB. Also, this Coby item has a 2.8" screen and the Sony item has a 2.0" screen. For further assistance you may reach customer service at 800-333-3330.

how do you know when mp3 is fully charged or is charging
When the player is connected and charging, a USB symbol will be displayed on the screen. If you need additional assistance or would like to place an order, please feel free to call us at 1-800-333-3330.
It has an integrated rechargeable battery. The player can be charged through a USB computer connection. Use the supplied USB cable to connect the player to a USB port of a computer.
