I shopped around looking at several different plywood and plastic designs that might suite the need for not placing the laptop on a sofa or lap surface where the fan could not get enough volume to cool the CPU and other internals. This product provided a good compromise to look good and be comfortable to boot. The only real complaint is that the adhesive velcro fasteners that are on the bottom of the board and then stapled are not done well and the pad that they fasten to will pull them off the desktop when you remove the pad to wash it or make the desktop less thick. The idea of what they were doing is right, but the execution was not. If you mechanicaly inclined it's an easy fix... but why need to fix a new product?

Was shipped in plastic wrap - damaged

This lap desk was shipped (twice) only wrapped in thin plastic wrap (like Saran wrap), which was torn up during shipping and the desk was chipped and dented. What are they thinking not putting this in a box?

I called 5 minutes after receiving it, and Staples did ship another one for free. However, they said it would probably be shipped the same way, they "had no control" over how the warehouse packages things. And the second one arrived damaged also. See the picture attached, it's ridiculous. So, they said not to return them, but they did credit my account.

This was going to be a gift for my mother when she was here last weekend, but now, no gift.

I did not get the impression they were going to change the way it's shipped, so Don't Bother! find something else.

        This product was shipped wrapped in plastic...no box or even bubble wrap. How could it NOT arrive damaged? One corner is scratched and dented in. It is also made of a very thin particle board...nothing like the nice wooden lap desk I bought at Staples a few years ago. The lap padding is two thin strips that are attached to the bottom with just six spots of velcro tape. It is very cheesy. I was going to give this to my mother as a gift, but it is clearly unsuitable. Back it goes!

              This thing is great. It had two rows of bean bag on the bottom, and they feel great. Large enough for a 16" laptop with room for a mouse. On-line only, but considerably cheaper than the SAME ITEM in the store, but in a different color. Note that the surface is really a veneer, so it is not too hard to scratch, but not a surprise for the money. It you take care if it, you will like it.
