Only negative is that there is no display of the volume level. You can increase or decrease but you don't know if you are near the bottom or top of the scale.

    The speakers are an overall good value for your money. The only issue I have had with them is that they get staticy occasionally. I love the volume control especially in an office setting where you need it real soft sometimes. They can also go louder with no issues. Their appearance is also nice enough to leave on top of your desk and have out all the time. I needed a good speaker with alotof volume control for a low price and these fit my needs perfectly. The only con I can think of is the static that only happened a couple times upon start-up.

      The sleek design and small size are unobtrusive. While the excellent sound quality and range of frequencies is suburb. Upper tones are pure not tinny. The bass is rich and full. Music whether a drumline or full orchestra is crisp and clear. Musical overtones enhance the listening experience.

                    No, the speakers themselves are powered by normal, plug into the wall cord. The USB is used to charge other devices (IPods, IPhones) through the speakers.
