I switched from using Belkin UPS to Cyber-Power a few years ago. The Cyber-Power UPS's have a much longer run time when the power goes out. They also have been more dependable with a longer battery life. I have 5 Cyber-Power UPS's in my business, 2 powering the cash registers (POS) and 3 for the back office computers. I've been very happy with their performance. Good value for the money.

This seemed to work when I first started using it. Then I started coming home to a restarted computer. By accident I flipped a breaker to do something else and thought the computer is covered, It'll be fine... NOPE! After I played with it a little more, I found out that this UPS is not catching the backup at the first loss of incoming power. I later found out a friend in the IT field bought one and had the same problem. I can't trust cyberpower any more after this. It's got a large capacity but if it doesn't keep a computer from shutting down, it's absolutely worthless!

Comments about CyberPower Intelligent LCD 1500VA 8-Outlet UPS:

I trust CyberPower products. Reliable products.
I wish prices will be less expensive in the future. I need to buy two or three more units like this one to replace the existing units I have from other manufacturer.
I recommend this product with no doubt at all.

Comments about CyberPower Intelligent LCD 1500VA 8-Outlet UPS:

I have been eyeing a UPS since 2005 (yes, really, have the printout from [...]) and always found an excuse to push it down the road UNTIL July 2011 when after a "tiny" power outage singed something inside my desktop and upon waking up heard strange noises and a sick yellow light (should have been green or no light) and after scrambling to transfer documents, email subfolders and emails with partial success (oops forgot to backup last stuff) to my laptop, I had enough! After doing a tiring research between CyberPower and APS systems (which is what I was looking at back in 2005), I decided on CyberPower because all of the reviews were solid and I was also impressed by the level of knowledge these reviewers had re PC systems, etc. and I want to thank all of you for helping me made a good solid decision. This model is very quiet, up to the task, compact and looks great atop my [...] desk's matching file cabinet. I think my husband was impressed that I even knew what this baby was and I just wished I had gotten it before the disaster but oh well all was not lost because thanks to Dell canceling an order for the damaged part I got a brand new Studio XPS 9100 system complete with a purchase of MS Office 2011--yea! Seriously, don't make the same mistake--get this CyberPower Intelligent LCD 1500VA 8-Outlet UPS it's so worth it!

              • Q:

It says the backup runtime is 3-115 minutes, depending on the load, is this correct? My question is about the load. In the 4 outlets set for surge/battery, I will have plugged in:

                1) standard HP desktop computer (nothing fancy)
                2) standard LG flat screen monitor (nothing large)
                3) standard Cox cable modem
                4) standard Belkin wireless router (nothing expensive)

I don't have all the spec on these on-hand, but based on this info, can you give me a non-binding "ball park" idea of how long this "load" will have back-up power?

I have bought $50 ones that say it powers for 15 minutes and they did every time, so at $199 I'd like to think it would be a little longer than that. Thank you!

It depends on the amount of power you are drawing off of it. This product is 900 Watts. Therefore, if all those items power usage added up is less than 900 it will run more than an hour.

This item will only give you 3 min of backup runtime for a full load. If you need more backup run time this would not work. Item: 849858 has 7 min backup runtime for half load.

              • Q:

I am confused why the stated run time on this unit is less than Cyberlink model#OR1500LCDRM2U. They both are supposed to be 900W/1500VA? Can this unit really supply 900w or not? Is this a 900W "peak watts" ploy (instead of 900W rms) to get people to buy it? One obvious difference is the Price. This unit is currently on sale for $149 and the other model listed above is double the price. I need a couple of units soon and a prompt answer would be appreciated. Thanks!

Depends on how much power your sump pump draws, but I'd guess it wouldn't work for more than a minute or two, if at all. Get yourself a marine deep cycle battery, a charger, and a large inverter...

thats really hard to answer because we need to know exactly how much power its drawing and how long you need it to stay active in a power outage. if this is a buisness server with mission critical info on it absolutely not, you want something several times larger, however if its not ya, you can run it on this just dont expect it to stay up for more than about 20 minutes depending on the load the thing with a ups is the ac/dc converter gets less efficient the closer it is to max draw keep that in mind
