Overall, awesome product - has more advanced features than a home-based network would ever require. However, it does have a serious design flaw that could render it useless, depending on your needs.

If you enable MAC filtering - as you should in any wireless environment, as well as encryption, for security - it also enables ethernet based filtering. The filter table only supports 24 devices, and one will quickly exceed this limit.

D-Link needs to remove MAC filtering for ethernet based devices, or increase table size significantly.

If you think 24 devices is a lot (remember, this device creates 2 different wireless networks, as well as includes your [wired] ethernet based devices), think again, and think future proof!

Count all your cell phones, tablets, laptops, desktops, XBOX, PS3, WII, ITouch, Smart TV, eReaders, cameras, etc and multipy that across how many kids you have. 24 is the threshold for a small to average home (remember, you need to include all wired devices, not just wireless, if you intend to secure your connection with encryption AND MAC filtering).

Support on the D-Link website is non-existent, as is this product in their forums (good luck with that)!

Shame really, as it has so much potential and I really like this device. Perhaps a firmware update in the future may resolve, but for now, I'll be returning.

Has failed to do the job

Comments about D-Link® DIR-835 Wireless N750 Dual Band Router, 2.40 GHz:

Tried two ways to get netflix to work on my tv, first by using WIFI and then by wired network and both failed. They seem to work for a short period and then they stop. I take the router out and connect the modem directly to the tv and netflix works perfectly.
What a disappointment!

Comments about D-Link® DIR-835 Wireless N750 Dual Band Router, 2.40 GHz:

Located in the basement of a 30'x55' bungalow, iPad gets good 2.4GHz signal everywhere but 5GHz is spotty at the far end, dependent on orientation of the iPad. Connected to Internet via RCA cable modem DHG-825. Encountered problem with streaming and downloads stopping prematurely, timing possibly related to data transfer rate, maybe stopping at a certain byte count. This on wired LAN, no such problem with WLAN.

75 minutes chat with tech support resolved problem but not sure if this isn't just a workaround of a bug. In advanced Internet settings, turning off True Gigabit Routing, on by default, cleared the issue.

In the process early on, support suggested I exchange the router but I insisted on working further. Router was running ver 1.02 firmware and its Check for updates function failed to detect that the current ver is 1.04. Updated firmware but no benefit for my problem.

Comments about D-Link® DIR-835 Wireless N750 Dual Band Router, 2.40 GHz:

After 5 hours of trying to set up called Dlink tech help, spent an hour with them (first call) they advised calling my ISP to change my modem setting to Bridge which my ISP said being wireless they could not change it, so back to tech help(different tech) and we tried again was told I would have to call ISP to get a static IP address, which would cost an additional $10.00 per month, so I have opted to take it back and try a different one, there must be a company that makes one that doesn't require this nonsense. If not, why not. They told me no company makes one to work with my system, but having had one that did for over five years, I have become a non believer in DLink
