Don't Buy if you want to Refill

If you like to refill you cartridges, then you will probably want to avoid Dell printer cartridges. Dell installs a chip in their cartridges which arbitrarily stops them from printing. If you refill the cartridge it will quit working after a predeterminer time, even though there is still ink in it. It gives you a warning, then it starts to use the color cartridge to print in black and white. BTW: I avoid the color drain by taking out the color cartridge after I have refilled the black one. This also means I have to go through an extra step when I print, since there is a warning that the color cartridge is missing. Unless Dell fixes this, I will never buy another Dell printer when this one dies.

These are just like the original Dell cartridges with the exception that Dell's ink monitoring system won't recognize them (it will tell you it's empty, even when it's brand new) so you need to monitor your own printing and purchase new cartridges in order to avoid running out. Other than that, no complaints!

Generic inks will work in the three-in-one Dell copier but it only recognizes Dell ink to inform when the ink cartridge is low. The difference in pricing is not significant.

Daily use for home office, wife uses printer for documents, flyers, etc. for volunteerting, and occasional photos.Great that you can buy it now at Staples instead of paying shipping rates and waiting for delivery. If I'm in the middle of work, I can run over to Staples, pick up the product, turn in the empty ones for recycling and credit, and be back to work in under an hour.I wish that the life of the cartridge was longer. Dell tells you a million times over that your cartridge is low, when in fact, you have a lot more left, and if you shake it gently, it will last even longer.
