Exactly what I needed

I make weekly backups of about 30gb of compressed data. In the past I've burned it all to DVD - at a huge time allocation and increasing storage requirements.

Now I use this hot-swappable SATA drive bay to slip a 1tb WD SATA drive in once a week, copy the data off (it takes FAR less time than burning 8 DVDs), disconnect the drive and put it in the safe. What used to take me about 3 hours of pruning, organizing and burning is down to about 20 minutes of drag & drop & wait!

While it did require a more powerful power supply for my desktop, it was well worth the investment.

Works well. Eject does not work well, but that is not a big problem. What is a big problem is that it uses 2 sata ports. If you only need the functionality of the drive, you can just not use the esata port on the front and save 1 sata port.

I bought this so I could swap drives easily, but my HP PC has doors on the bays and you can not pull out the drive without taking the front panel off the PC. This really the PC case problem and not with the product. I use it to hold the backup drive and I can pull the drive if I take the front panel off the case. I wish HP would not make their cases the way they do, but that is probably to get people to buy things like this from them (make just for their case).

For those of us who stay busy and love to be on the go, this device is one of the most interesting to use. You will find out that you are having very easy access to a larger library and is more convenient than the average external devices u buy. Just like a rackmount you can stack these together and include an additional external device together. It makes your possibilities unlimited and I'd strongly say, this is a superb buy.

The HardDrive is less then flush when inserted. the button must be pressed while inserting. pressing the button simply unlocks the drive (does NOT push it out) you must pull the HardDrive out while pressing the button... requiring both hands. standard sata power/data cables, nothing extra needed. my HDD runs considerably warmer as opposed to just laying out, exposed to air on all sides (but considering the design, other products would be far worse) this case is all metal, making it durable. since it is metal it also absorbs heat rather then reflecting it back on the hdd.

Loved this product. Super easy to install, drives slide in and out easily. The product has a eSATA to internal sata passthough but the internal sata is hardwired in, not the best solution but it works. The bay just about disappears in the case when no drive is plugged in. Great product!

I thought the drive caddy would allow the drive to be fully inside and have a neat cover on the outside. however the drive is designed to stick out so you can grab it and remove it. there was not a proper picture on the package. this would be good for techs who deal with desktop hard drives alot and need to recover data. but it is to be mounted in a desktop 5.25 inch opening.
