The 77 series cartridges are made for heavy use, and was going through the standard 78 colors as much as 2X a month.
What's not great about them is that they are considerably more expensive, and not all the colors are available separately. In addition, you can't buy them in store, only online.

The printer originally cost $99.00. Now the replacement ink cartridges cost almost as much as the printer. ALL printer manufacturers do this as this is the way they can make the big money. I understand that the ink costs more per ounce than platinum or gold. Smart way to make money. I recommend it only beause there in no better alternative. I am in a captive market.
Comments about Epson T077920 Color Ink Cartridges, High Yield, 5/Pack:
As we all know, ink for inkjet printers is more expensive than gold. However, fortunately for us, no one will be kicking in your door to take your ink :). As far as the product is concerned, the ink does exactly what it advertises, dries quickly, sharp colors and the volume is at least 60% more than what's in the 78 ink cartridges. You really start to recognize how much more ink is in there as the time between changes become less frequent. This fact alone makes the 77 cartridges worth a premium. You won't be disappointed with this purchase.

I have had my RX580 for aome time now. I love the quality printing I get from Epson Ink and printer. I print many pictures and labels on DVD's, and receive complements on the quality of the prints. I like the ability to replace only the color ink that is out. Keep up the good work Epson.

These 5 packs are more economical than buying them separately. I wish they would have included a black cartridge in the pack. Also, they need to make a Black 77 instead of just the Black 78 since you use black more than any of the others. I wish the ink were cheaper like some of the cartridges for the other machines. I have no problem with the color, drying quickly but I hardly print anything except photos then not a whole lot of them. It takes a lot of color for photos. It would probably be cheaper to have your photos printed by someone else.

Epson ink is great for photos. I have tried several different brands of printers and I like the Epson best. Of course all ink is expensive, but the Epson ink is a little more affordable than some others I have had to buy. I was surprised that Staples didn't carry the high capacity black ink.
These cartridges do not offer an average yield. The amount of ink used will vary based on the model of your printer, the quality of printing, and the colors your are printing.

Q:
What is the difference between the Epson 77 vs the Epson 78 cartridges? I'm ordering for my college kid so I don't have the printer at hand (Epson Stylus Photo r280). Thanks
