I had conflicting info on scanning neg. strips and multiple pictures at once and save each picture to it's own file. After an e-mail to company they assured me they could be saved to their own files. Easy set up and sure enough I could easily save each picture to it's own file!!
Had an older photo scanner which I loved but this one is an improvement - when scanning the negatives the ice really improves the images. Only wish it was as easy to change the file names as I save them like the older model was.

This scanner is about equal to others in its class. However, its limied by the software Epson provides. You need to purchase 3rd party software, such as Vuescan to actually scan at 6400 dpi. The ADF is limied to one-sided scanning and there are no provisions in software for flip pages over and scan the other side. Epson won't even answer questions on this issue. The film holder will not hold film strips flat. You need a special glass film holder to use this capablity.

Good Scanner but Epson was unable to solve problems with their Event Manager Software.
Epson told ME to contact Mictosoft !
Contacted Staples to arange return of the Scanner and talked to Staples Tech guy. He suggested I search error code on internet and I found a solution. I Kept the scanner. Why didn't Epson tech support do that, I sent them the error messages.

I can't access the reviews on the web page. I click on reviews and nothing happens? Also I want to know if the scanner can do 3D objects, or scan books. Also I can find the accessory that lets you scan multiple pages. Thank you

Asked on 5/11/2012 by Doc from San Leandro, CA

            1 answer

            • A:

There aren't any reviews to click on, that is why you can not see them. This scanner can scan anything that you can place on top of it although it might lose the 3D effect when scanning. The accessory is not available on the website at this time, check back later.

I am trying to decide between Epson V500 and V330. I know that the higher resolution will make clearer prints, but the software is different in each one. Which software would be best for scanning and improving 35mm negatives and old prints.

            2 answers

            • A:

One of the best ways to improve negatives is to use software like Photoshop, so the program would be good for 35mm negatives.

The software included with the v500 scanner, is the Adobe Photoshop Elements. This is a very popular software among folks who archieve and prep old photos.

The V500 will not be able to scan 3d objects, it will scan books as long as the pages are laid flat. Unfortunately the Epson does not mention the Dmax of the V330 on their website or in their product specifications PDF. Please call Epson directly at (800) 463-7766 for further information
