I am an artists. I like to review books and videos as well as search the internet for articles and videos clips on watercolor art. I write short instruction sheets with pictures on each stage of development of my paintings that I plan to teach. I am also design DVD movies on watercolor painting training videos for sale. Epson is a great printer. However, the cartridges are small so the ink only last so long. I do like the option of replacing the colors separately. Before, I had an HP printer and had to replace a multiple color cartridge when a color ran out.

I have a home based business and use my Epson multifunction printer (which has worked great for 3+ years now) at least on a daily basis. Most of my printing is document type and uses mainly black ink. I honestly feel like I am spending more money on these black ink cartridges than all of my other business supplies combined. I was so thrilled to hear that cartridges could be refilled/recycled until I discovered you cannot do that with Epson ink products. Really, really, really does not make me happy. I have actually considered purchasing an older printer of a different brand just to use for printing black and white documents so that I can dramatically cut what I am spending on ink. Being a small business, this just means one more thing to have to deal with/worry about. Since I am not supposed to write about pricing on here, I am just going to say that Staples had single black ink cartridges in other brands that were 1/5 the price of the Epson, and were recyclable too! Like I said, I love the printer/fax/copier/scanner but I **HATE** the unreasonably high cost of these cartridges
I wish it had a longer life. I print lesson plans from home and documentation and assessment work. It prints out with great clarity and color. But it's used up before you know it!!!
Epson printers use ink to prime print head for printing, this added on top of a small ink tank, makes this one of the more expensive printing solutions on the market. On the flipside, printing quality for a entry level printer is better than average.
