Very expensive for its short life

My family uses the printer mostly for High School documents. Unfortunately, it's black the ink color used the most and it's the more expensive one, even than any other color used by the printer.Every time I have to come buy a new one, I end up spending [$] for a set of a couple cartridges which is cheaper than buying one alone for [$].It's really expensive, I'm thinking seriously about changing my printer for one that can save me more $$ in ink in the long run.
