Epson did it again.. works with iPad

The Epson 845 is ideal for the home office or small business. This all-in-one printer features built-in networking and 2-sided printing and copying. It has a paper capacity of up to 500 sheets.

The good: Great packaging insures that the item will arrive in perfection condition. All of the parts are taped in place in the box. The quick start guide is just that. Three to four quick steps and you are off to the races.

The build quality is excellent and feels very robust. The power button gives you good feedback and the touch screen is not too sensitive and beeps when pressed.

The Great: Item prints very well. Printing single sided pages, the Epson 845 is a respectable 15ppm in black. The printer was surprisingly fast as a duplex printer at 7.4 ppm in black. The quality was very good and has several quality settings. I had no problem running cardstock, photo paper, and regular paper through the printer. The printer holds so much paper that running out of paper or cardstock should not be an issue. The XL print cartridge is a big deal if you do anything beyond very light printing.

The blow my mind: The integration with my IPhone, IPad, and Android device is awesome. The free app gives you the functionality of a scanner, copier, and fax, all wirelessly connected to your phone or tablet. You can scan documents with the printer and then upload those documents to your devices. This allows you to easily email scanned documents from your device, which can be very helpful. Printing photos from your device has never been easier! HP has a similar app but it just didn't work as well for me.

The bad: I didn't get this printer sooner. If the app could print over the cloud to my house that would be neat. The HP app can do this.

Conclusion: I hate to say I am not surprised…Epson does it again with the Work Force 845. I would highly recommend this printer for the home office or the light business user. It's a great value for the price and works great!

I purchased the printer on 12/30/11 and already a problem. The other day the printer would not print. It was making sounds like it wanted to print but did not. I could not get the printer to cancel the print job or shut off even when I pushed the cancell and off buttons. I finally had to unplug the printer to get it to shut off.

I this problem happens again back to Staples it goes.

Immediately I loved this printer. At first I thought I would not be able to print my own business cards or labels, but after I checked the settings within the computer I realized you need to change from FAST printing to QUALITY (slower). Once that is done it prints and registers fine. For most uses I would recommmend this printer. I do not print many photographs, so if that's what you want to do, I would focus on buying one that advertises for that purpose. However if you are printing documents, business cards, etc., this printer works great. Don't get me wrong, I've printed a few photographs and it's fine.
You can put it on fast printing for black and white and it is amazing. I couldn't believe it when I set it up. I had been using a Canon before and it took it 45 seconds to a minute to "warm up"! This printer is fast if you need it to be and you can change the quality speed otherwise. I liked the two tray option, digital screen, wifi was a quick set up.
Some people have mentioned the noise level, but this printer is so fast, so what? I didn't notice any major noise level myself. The only thing I wish it had was a rear load tray for the card stock and business cards, only for convenience. Since it has two trays I do load card stock in there so that works fine. This machine is shorter and a little smaller than last year's model. It seems that the ink cartridges are staying full longer on this printer than previous ones.
Overall, I would give it a 4.5 stars, 1/2 star taken off for the slightly flimsy paper rest that you pull out and no rear tray.

We like the ease of use, large ink capacity and duel paper trays. My wife recycles a lot of paper and the extra tray is great for holding that. We are impressed with the ease of software installation and its use. This printer is very fast and copies are crisp.

  from what i've read here, it looks like tray 1(a, top) is for COPY ONLY. if you want to print any media (checks, photo paper, envelopes, etc) you'd have to put them in tray 2(b, bottom). hope this helps in your decision making.

  Yields based on ISO/IEC 24711 tests in default mode printing continuously. Actual yields will be lower with higher-density images, hot or dusty conditions, less frequent printing or printing predominantly with one color. All ink colors are used for printing and all-in-one maintenance, and all colors have to be installed for printing. For print quality, part of the ink from the included cartridges is used for printer startup and a variable amount of ink remains in the cartridges after the “replace cartridge” signal. It is clear that this epson has duplex printing capabilities, what is not clear, is this a duplex scanner, can it scan both sides of a document?

  According to Epsons website it does appear that this particular printer has Automatic two-sided ADF scanning.

Does this machine only send faxes, or does it receive them also, and will it store into memory for printing later if printer is not on when fax received?

  Yes, the Epson WorkForce 845 All-In-One Printer can send and receive faxes. It can store up to 180 pages if the machine is busy or if it is out of ink. If the machine is turned off it will not receive faxes.

  it should be compatible. don't install osx drivers from their included cd. it's outdated. direct dl lion drivers from here: http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supportLion.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes
