GREAT Printer, But A PC Adjustment May Be Needed

First of all, I researched the all-in-one printer market extensively before purchasing the Epson WF-3540 printer. Everywhere I looked, this printer received the highest scores in overall customer satisfaction, with other Epson printers following close behind. So I felt very comfortable purchasing the Epson brand; it was just a matter for me as to which printer to buy. I can say that so far I have not been disappointed! Installation was fairly easy with the step-by-step directions and drawings that were included (you need to follow them rather than try to set up the machine on your own). Once the printer was installed, I had no problem printing beautiful pages FAST (the latter part surprised me - former reviews I had read didn't emphasize this, although the printer box clearly states "world's fastest all-in-one"). The text was such high quality that I printed resumes this morning for a job fair with this machine rather than drag out my old laser printer. The copy function was the same way - I can't tell the difference between the original and the copy, both for b/w text and color photos. (By the way, I LOVE being able to make color copies!) The only difficulty I had was with scanning. Regardless of whether I pushed the scan button on the printer or the icon on my computer, the system would only return with a communication error. I called the Epson technical support line (the number is in the manual on page 35), and apparently my situation was so rare that the initial customer rep had to refer me to Level 2 support for resolution. That person had no trouble diagnosing and resolving the issue. I have a new laptop. Apparently the PC manufacturer had installed imaging software in the twain_32 folder, and it was over-riding the Epson program. All that needed to be done was to move the PC manufacturer software to a different folder. So the problem rested with the PC, not the printer. I did want to state this in case you experience the same problem; if in doubt, just call the Epson hot line.. Once that step was completed. the scanner immediately started working. I have not faxed anything yet, but don't anticipate any issues. All-in-all, I couldn't be happier with this purchase.

I purchased this printer for design office use for 2 users. We've used Epson printers in the past and the color can't be beat. Our last printer was the B-310N which was truly a high yield ink jet printer. It stopped working after 2 years and we needed to replace it. Unfortunately it seems that Epson is discontinuing that model. So after much research we selected this model. But this printer doesn't even come close to the efficiency and low ink consumption of the B-310N. At the rate this printer is using ink we will spend 3x as much money as we did using the B-310N. I would recommend this printer for home or home office use. I would NOT recommend this printer for any design office.

We replaced an HP all-in-one that was over eight years old and a Lexmark color printer, copier, scanner that was over four years old, that both died within a week. The WorkForce WF-3540 does more than the other two combined. The auto document feed for the copier or scanner is a really nice feature. I really like being able to scan to a file. The dual paper trays that each hold 250 sheets means less paper refills, and if you should have the need the bottom tray can handle legal sized paper. Another great feature is the automatic two sided printing.

I have tried many printers and found that Epson seems to be the most reliable. This printer fit my needs since I print envelopes/letters. There is a rear loading feeder great for envelopes and I can use the extra drawer in the front to load envelopes if I'm printing a lot of letters. So far, this is a really nice printer. It seems to print pictures as well as my Epson Artisan 835, but I'm not an expert. The only problem I've had is I haven't figured out how to reverse the printout order of pages - I prefer to print last to first. Other than the cheapest Epson, I have found them to be reliable printers.

This device delivers all that was advertised, The wireless capability is awesome, and prints reliably from both my iPhone and iPad saving me a lot of time and bother. The auto duplex feature works as smoothly as any I have ever seen and I was once responsible for designing this kind of printer. Last, but not least nor the totality of positive attributes, the 500 sheet paper tray capacity saves time and reduces the clutter of partially used paper packages. So far we love it.
