      I'm a long time Epson user having working in the photographic field. I was surprised to find a wide format Epson printer in this price range. The printer functions very well and with two paper paths and double side printing it's a steal for the price. I print posters and event ticket stock with no problems. The driver has all the usual Epson features including loadable color profiles. I replaced my aging 2200 with this machine and am very happy with the results.

      The good news is that the Workforce series addressed the clogged nozzle and printhead problems so prevalent in other Epson ink jets. The bad news is that Epson still has not learned how to properly inform buyers of the products limitations. If one buys a printer that offers wide format output and automatic duplexing, one should rightly expect that the duplexing feature applies to any media size within the printer's capability.

      Unfortunately, with this machine, you have to go through the entire unpacking and set-up process, discover that if you're a Mac user, the install disk isn't supported by OS 10.8 (so you have to d/l the current driver from epson.com), and then try to print a large format document to find that only sizes like letter, A4, and a few other similar — and most definitely not wide format — sizes are supported by the duplexer.

      This limitation is mentioned nowhere. Not on the box, not on the website, not within the meagre documentation that comes with the unit, and not even in the barely helpful online manual. Worse, it took more almost 30 minutes to verify this unacceptable flaw via Epson's offshore tech support call center!

      Forget you, Epson. I'm sticking with HP.

      bad banding

      I would not recommend this printer to my worst enemy. It has horizontal banding. I have followed the instructions to correct it. the bands disappeared on plan paper but s2till appears on photographic paper. I called tech support and was told that I could only use epson paper. I will buy epson paper, but I seriously doubt that it will work. Do not buy this product.

      Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

      Six months per printer

      Because of my type of business it requires me to use Epson products. I have a stack of like new worthless printers because of one glitch or another causing them to print less than standard quality. The Workforce 7010 does not load paper as well as it should and the drawers are clumsy and take time to change paper sizes. I have 12 Epson printers and they all have/had cartridge problems. If a cart is pulled out to clean the print head, when it is replaced the machine may read it suddenly being empty for no apparent reason. The artisan 1400 is the worst followed by the C88.

      Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

        It doesn't do a good job at printing solids, these areas wind up with some sort of pattern instead of being smooth. It lays down way too much ink, which dries slowly (and prints slower than expected). There are also thin streak lines (in the direction of the paper path) which are probably from the exit rollers. There is a tendency to dog-ear (fold over) the lead corners of the sheet as it is fed into the print heads. Turning the paper over doesn't help.

              The WorkForce Printer is not designed to print on 10" x 13" envelopes. You'd be better off printing your addresses on labels and putting those on the envelopes.

              The Epson WorkForce WF-7010 can auto-duplex up to 13" x 19" sized paper. However, the loading capacity for legal sized paper (8.5" x 14") and up to 13" x 19" is only 30 sheets, as opposed to the 250 sheet capacity of normal sized, 20lb weight paper.
