decluttering made easy

The Epson Workforce 30 is serving me well for the intended purpose. I have so many receipts laying around on any given day. My dining room table is now much clearer than it used to be. It is so simple to scan a receipt through the Epson and then send it to the appropriate file on the computer. I can save it as a JPEG or PDF or BITMAP or TIFF, and it is very easy to adjust the brightness and contrast as well as the size of the scan. I like the fact that I can set it to "Auto" for the size of the paper and it makes my file only as big as the receipt. This feature will save on disc space in the long run.
It has a very small footprint and I keep it right next to my laptop, so whenever more paper comes into the house (which it does daily!!) I now just scan it, file it, and shred the original. (some documents I do still keep a hardcopy)
I am now working on cleaning out my 4 drawer file cabinet!
It does not bother me that it only scans one side, since about 80-85% of the documents I scan are only one sided, and when I do encounter the occasional 2-sided document, it doesn't take that long to just hit the "add a page" button and keep going with the scan.
I had no issues at all with set up, worked right out of the box (must install software first).
I am very pleased with its performance and ease of use.

I am happy with the quality of the scans in any saved format. The software is a bit lacking. The explinations are too brief in many instances. For example it is not real clear what value a "job" is nor is it real clear how to set one up. It doesn't work very well for scanning pictures or other items smaller than a typical letter sized document. Any smaller item tends to twist in the document feeder as it is scanning resulting in blurred scans. Overall the size and portablility are good and it is easy to get started with the basic scanning process.

Great Portable Scanner

I have used this portable scanner for nine months to copy, scan and file receipts, bills, contracts, correspondence and photographs. The scanner and the software have performed flawlessly, producing outstanding scanned PDF documents. The scanner was quick to install, and remains easy to use; it has been completely reliable and I have experienced no problems whatsoever. It is installed on a 2.0 GHZ Intel Core i7 with 6 GB of RAM running Windows 7 Home Premium.

Have had the product for less than a week, and I am not a computer technitian. However, I am most impressed with the simplicity of this device. Easy download, and plug into UBS port; and the power is on and ready to use. WOW! I continue to review or examine other options for this DS-30 scanning device...can I place scan into folder placement, name of scanned document, can PDF identity be changed to Word Title, Yes. Not being an expert in this digital world, what I do know is this: I can work this EPSON DS-30 scanner. If I can, so can you. Buy one.

Not much to say, but it's a work horse and so easy to use. Best investment I've made in a long time. Small, compact, clear images...no complaints. I use it on my PC and Mac.

  No, Epson does not make a combo portable scanner/printer. They do have a small line of portable printers, but they are intended for photo reprints.
