Decent but sort of frustrating probably sums up this unit best. I've loved DM15C for years - 15 sheets, big bin, cross-cut - and got it for [$]. Now I'm spending [$] on sale for this and it's not even remotely on par.Like the low noise output. We have this in a small professional office and can run this while people are around or on the phone with no worries. It's plenty fast enough for a small office and shreds thuroughly.Hate the tiny bin. Cross cutting 10 sheets per pass means a pretty inefficient operation and fills the bin up quickly. Not to mention, if you let the bin fill up you will have shreds all over the floor when you pull the bin out because they get caught up underneath the shredding mechanisms and you cannot reach in enough to get them out before hand. About 3/4 of an inch of paper to shred is all the bin holds so this is definitely a LIGHT duty unit. Our goal was for this to take care of our small office. I had high hopes and would have to say this did not deliver on most of them. If you are coming from a small strip shredder or otherwise old, compact, noisy desk-side shredder, you'll probably think this thing is great. If you are coming from a larger, very capable shredder with a good size bin, I can assure you this unit will frustrate you. Shredder prices have gone through the roof, so unless something changes I would say pony up the dough and get into the Professional lineup from Fellowes.

This shredder looks really good in our home office. It's very quiet compared to previous shredders that we've owned, and hasn't jammed yet. The pull-out waste basket is a nice feature though it can get a little messy emptying its contents into a regular house-hold trash bag.

Very quiet. A great shredder. The only thing which would make it better is a less sensitive anti-jam technology. It hangs up on any paper that's folded even when it's only 3 sheets.

I got a pretty good deal on this shredder. Staples was giving a $20 rebate for your old shredder. I hated my old shredder. It was extremely loud. It only cut vertically. Not like this new one that cuts both ways. So I get the new shredder home and start using it. It's really quiet and does a good job cutting up several sheets at a time. The Fellowes leaves cuttings that are about 1/4" wide and 2" long. That's not really good enough for confidential stuff. And it's no where near good enough for classifed materials. But those shredders cost a ton of money too. This one does a good job and it was a good buy particularly because of that $20 rebate for the old shredder. I would recommend this shredder to anyone using it at home. If you want smaller pieces of paper those shredders are out there but you better have some money ready. This shredder makes the pieces small enough that if some crook got hold of your trash it would be an act of God if he could ever go through all the pieces to get your info.

I needed a new shredder and was tired of buying those cheap shredders that burn out after about two years. Decided to upgrade this time and am glad I did. This shredder really chews through credit cards, staples and address labels (yeah, the instructions say not to shred labels but I like to live dangerously). Add to that the fact that this thing is a breeze to empty; it has a drawer-like bin that slides out the front of the unit. Say goodbye to wrestling that heavy motor assembly on and off the top of the unit! Well worth the extra cost.
