I have hardwood floors in my office, and after upgrading my desk chair from a basic desk chair to a more high-end, executive desk chair (much larger and heavier), I noticed the weight of my new chair began to cause the wood floor at my desk to wear rather rapidly. I use an L-shaped desk, so I was concerned about the appropriate shape of a chairmat to use, but this mat has been great. It fits perfectly in the space used at an L-shaped desk. The chairmat does not slide around even though I move around quite a bit during the day. If I slide my chair beyond the mat, it's not difficult to slide back onto the mat -- the lip/edge of the mat is thin enough to not get caught or snagged by the chair rollers. I don't trip on the mat as I come and go from my desk. I basically don't even notice it. It has a bit of a "frosted" look, but it is still transparent. It is a huge relief to know I will not be damaging my wood floors by the constant chair movement. I felt like it was a bit pricey (reason it's rated 4 out of 5), but after doing research at a variety of websites/manufacturers to find the best chairmat, this seemed to match what I needed, both in functionality and design, so I'm very pleased with this purchase.
