I was surprised that the newer type of material this is made for and that it was supposed to be designed for thicker carpets as I have, that it didn't stay intact for long.
Under my chair, it has already begun to split in more than one place. ARG!
It's only been 4 months, that's ridiculous!

I have just ordered my second one of these for my home office. The first one lasted about two years, which to me seems too short a time for a product this expensive. But less expensive mats do not seem to hold up even this well. Although this is advertised as being for deep plush carpets, the "teeth" or grippers on the bottom really are not very long and do not hold the mat in position on my medium-depth carpet. So it does slide around. My desk arrangement keeps it from going too far, fortunately. Like every plastic mat I have had, eventually it developed cracks in the center. The cracks will lead to pieces coming out, and then wheels get stuck. I rotated the mat position to prolong its liife. I have not found a better one, unfortunately. I would recommend it only because I have not found one that lasts longer.

In the past, I have had every other floormat crack and break in a short time. This is the thickest and strongest mat I have ever had and I am very pleased with it.

The mat arrived coiled in a box with a strap around it. Be careful when cutting the strap because the mat will "spring" open with force.
