    From the picture closeup, it looks like the top surface of the mat might be bumpy? Is it smooth to the touch on the top surface?

      A:

      The top surface does have a ripple pattern and will be bumpy. The back of the charimat is smooth so it will not mark your hard floors or slip on carpeted surfaces.
