It would be nice if it had an opening in the lid so you could toss out other items you dont want to shred, Then it would be a space saving trash can / shredder.Its a hassle to lift the shredder head up and toss items in. Otherwise its good for home use, and a good deal on sale. I dont think it should be rated a 12 sheet shredder 6 to 8 is about the max.

This unit... the Shredmaster.... Loved it. It never overheated. We would shred for 1 - 2 hours at a time. We were putting out 14 - 18 large bags of shredded documents twice a week. This is a simple unit... and a very good unit. Very Reliable.

I really dislike this machine. It doesn't shut off when paper is done shredding, it's loud and the bin fills up really quickly. I wish I could return it.
