I'm a Mac user and don't fiddle around with long setups -- I'm definitely plug and play. I had expected setup to be a pain based on other reviews I've seen, but it was incredibly easy.

I love my Garmin and am glad I paid a bit more to get one with the 5-inch screen instead of the smaller screens. There is a lot of information on the screens (speed and speed limit, lane information, etc.) and I think it might be a bit crowded on a smaller screen, bearing in mind that you need to see everything at a glance while driving.

For me, the lifetime maps and traffic are both really important features. Several freeway construction projects in my area mean I'll need maps updated regularly, and I use the traffic feature on a daily basis.

The traffic updates could be a little faster, however -- there have been a couple of times when things look green on screen but I'm in a hot mess of a traffic jam. Usually it's fine, but this issue is the reason I gave only 4 stars instead of 5.

This review is probably more about Garmin than the Garmin nuvi 2555LMT Portable GPS since I'm unable to use the GPS as of yet. When I went and tried to use it the first time the power adapter cord for the car did not work. It was defective right out of the box. I couldn't take it back to Staples since this was a gift and it was bought more than 14 days ago. Called Garmin and they said they would send out a new cord but needed the defective one back first before they would send out the new one. Spent almost $7 purchasing a box and paying for postage to send it back to them. When I finally received the new cord a couple weeks later it was a refurbished cord!!!! I had a brand new item that was defective out of the box and they replaced it with a refurbished one. I've had bad experiences before with refurbished products (not neccesarily with Garmin) and I do all I can to stay away from refurbished items. Called Garmin again and after argueing with them for a while they finally agreed to send a new cord but they needed the refurbished one back. I spent just under $4 to send the refurbished one back. It's been about a month and almost $11 since I received this gift and still don't have a cord nor am I able to use the product. I guess I should have just bought a cord in the store a month ago. Garmin's customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Very poor. Hopefully the product works the way it should when and if I get a power cord.

Since these began to appear on the market, I hesitated to get one until the "bugs" and newer maps became available. That was sometime ago, but now that I took the chance and purchased the one I thought to be the one for me. Surprised me, it is quite the article and stopping as I have in the past to get directions from a gas station attendant, that will be a thing of the past. Although this is a high theft item when and if left in the vehicle, my unit is with me as soon as I depart the parking lot.

I have had several Garmin Nuvi GPS. I have liked all of them. The new one has a different interface and after getting it setup and using it, I prefer the older style. Do not hit the red button or you will have to retype all of the information for a trip. Favorites are harder to find, and the new routes are more cumbersome, as the city,state doesn't come up first as it used to. Still gets me where I need to go!

  The Garmin Nuvi 2555LMT comes with preloaded City Navigator NT North America, which includes the US, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands and the Bahamas, which are upgradeable 4 times a year for the products life, at no extra charge. With Garmin, any GPS that ends with a "LMT" means that it comes with a lifetime maps and traffic subscription. If you see a model with "LT" after the number, that means it just has lifetime traffic, not lifetime map updates. Most Garmin GPS units for sale in the US include North American maps, which include Canada. The exception being a few value priced models, which clearly state they have US (lower 48) and Puerto Rico maps only.
