It's constructed of a lighter-weight plastic than the one it replaced (which was 10 years old). In the week I've been using it I am very satisfied and confident I made the right choice for my use of a shredder. And I received great help from the associate at the store.

I have had this shredder for one month and it does an excellent job. The top is quite heavy but that lends to stability. Operating mechanism is quiet.
