I returned the HON unit and bought the Staples brand. I already had Staples brand at home and THOUGHT the HON would be a better quality for business use. The HON cabinet IS heavier, but the drawer slides are VERY cheap and poorly designed. In my opinion it felt like HON put 50-cent rollers on a $169 file cabinet, while Staples put $50 rollers on a [$]cabinet. In addition, once the cabinets are loaded they feel equally heavy and stable, but the Staples drawers open smoooothly!

Buy Staples brand, not Hon

I looked at both the Staples brand and Hon at the local Staples store. The Staples brand has much better drawer slides. Smoother and sturdier. The rest of the cabinet is identical to Hon. You would not notice a difference if looking side by side. Anyway I ordered the Hon brand only because they had the old clamping type file backstops in the drawers. The Staples brand have flimsy wire backstop. When the new Hons arrived, guess what? They have switched to the flimsy wire backstops. If I had known this I would have saved the money and gone with the Staples brand.

This is my third file cabinet by Hon. I bought my first 2 several years ago from Staples. My office had a break-in and I was thrilled to find out that even with a crow bar the thieves did very little damage to my new Hon file cabinets! That is why I bought the exact same one when I needed a third....

When I took the product out of the box I found that it was dented and the top rear corner was bent in. I went ahead and kept it because I was frustrated and it seemed to me that it would take too much effort to return it. I would recommend my friends open all packages before removing them from the store.
