Comments about HON® Front to Back Lateral File Rails 42" models:
You won't be able to fit three rows of files in your filing cabinet with these rails, as they are unnecessarily wide. If you buy the single rails they are much thinner.
Comments about HON® Front to Back Lateral File Rails 42" models:
Sturdy. I used on a 36" model and ended up with wasted space between files, and the inner edge tips up occasionally. But they do make files easier to access if file cabinet is in a corner or in a tight space.

Got a free lateral file cabinet, four drawers, but needed a couple of rails to convert some of the drawers from legal sized hanging files to letter sized files. Went to a bunch of stores, even office supply stores, and nothing is carried in-stock. Found it online least expensively at Staples, and after adjusting to the idea that I would be paying [$] for a metal stick, I went ahead and ordered. Staples delivered free to the store, and I got it super fast. Loved that. The item fit our odd-sized drawers, but it was just a bit wider than ideal for our non-standard cabinet, and so I couldn't make three letter-sized rows out of the drawer. I had to combine one of these rails with a single rail, and managed two letter-sized rows front to back, and the remaining space is being used for legal-sizes files, side to side. Works great. Still wish it didn't cost so much, but that's the way office equipment goes.

Files are easier to access while maintaining the efficiency and smaller foot print of a lateral file. Allows a greater volume of files per drawer. Ordered two sets to try and will now order for the rest of the cabinet.
