I only buy HP ink and toner for all of my HP printers (4 of them). Never any problem with them. Very easy to replace. It just seems that I have to replace them all to quickly but then again, that just may be my feeling financial hits more this past year. I am hoping this high yield cartridge will be worth the extra money!

I use this printer primarily as a b/w printer but like the color option. However, to tout that these cartridges yield 4000 is false advertising - I don't think I have ever gotten more than 500 and for the price, it's disappointing. If I had known the yield was so low I would never have selected this printer.

      Toner is a powder which last a long time. As per HP this cartridge's shelf life is approximately 6 months opened, & for an unopened boxed one, it is approximately 2 1/2 years.
