Quality produces quantity

Laserjet color printer. Although toner is expensive, the quality printing is worth it. It's an easy process to change, without the mess. Printing quality work is what I endeavor to do, especially when providing documents, personalized cards and invitations to individuals. The presentation of a professional look is beyond words.

Works great but too pricey...

HP makes this product simple to install as well as recycle, but the price is steep, especially since my printer requires use of 4 different cartridges... magenta, cyan, yellow & black. A better option would be if HP offered refillable cartridges as opposed to buying new ones each time they run out. Plus, this would be a "greener" way to go.

I wish I had researched the price of cartridges before I bought this printer. There are four cartridges and with my home business, I spend more than $800/year on toner!!! HP has the market sewn up that the generics aren't good and they are laughing all the way to the bank on poor suckers like me! Find a printer that has either lower priced ink cartridges or prints more pages (and don't believe what the manufacturer tells you).

My color LaserJet 3500 was not a dinosaur when purchased 6 years ago but it is now. Don't get me wrong. It's a wonderful printer. But it contains four huge toner cartridges that cost anywhere from $130 to $160 EACH. Have just decided to buy a new HP color printer for $300 with cartridges that cost about $70 each. As long as HP is around I will always buy their printers.

The words "UP TO" in the description of how many copies each toner cartridge will produce are very, very important. I have yet to see one actually produce anything near what the description says. I print a 12-page, full-color document (150 copies) once a month, plus normal, everyday usage (1 to 10 sheets of paper a day). I go through AT LEAST one cartridge of each color (total 4) EVERY SINGLE MONTH (sometimes I exhaust 2 of each color). That adds up to MORE THAN $600 a month for toner! I love my old HP 3550 laser printer, but -- short of using the "big discount" sellers who recondition old cartridges -- there HAS to be a better way. Especially since you'll never, ever convince me that I'm actually using ALL the toner in each cartridge. NO. WAY. PERIOD.
