I was initially disapointed because I only got about 950 pages from the cartridge that came with the machine. On my second cartridge, I actually kept track and got 2300 pages of which most were payroll tax forms and tax returns which include printing all the lines and boxes. I can print 2 copies of 100 corporate tax returns which average 10 pages each. That's less than $1.00 per client. The cost is well worth the speed. No more standing around and waiting for the forms to print. THAT was costing me money during tax season. Only thing that I'm not happy with is that you have to buy it online since Staples stores do not carry it. My first one ran out fast on a Friday and I could not get another cartridge until the following Tuesday.

I like the M1522 very much -- good quality and reasonable price -- but the HP toner cartridge life is horrible. We bought the printer specifically for one project. The included toner lasted for less than 500 pages. Fine. Maybe it was a starter cartridge. Fortunately we bought 2 additional cartridges. Well, it took 3 cartridges to print 1900 pages of forms (all text, no graphics). At[$] a pop, that makes the toner cost per page at 11 cents. Kinkos charges 10 cents -- and that includes the paper. Do the math. Afterward, I checked the comments from other users, and short toner life seems to be a common thread. Perhaps this is a business strategy at HP, but our high-end, high $$ HP printers do fine.

I purchased the printer based on the pages per month specs. They forgot to mention that it would take FOUR expensive cartridges to accomodate that usage. That's equivalent to the cost of the printer every month. Since profanity is not allowed, I'll leave it at that...

      I bought this printer based on the 2000 pages per cartridge claim - it does not even come close - had an HP 1200 series and its print cartridge output was great - will consider other non-HP printers in future - terrible expense per month on printer toner for the HP 1505n!!
