The price per cartridge for the XL (extra large amount of ink) is "okay" -- but I am not getting anywhere near the 750 advertised pages. I do a lot of photographs and clip art which admittedly uses more ink than the printed word. I get, perhaps, 150 photos (4 x 6 inches) with a set of cartridges. The printer uses 5 different color cartridges (and the black cartridge costs double the color cartridges) -- thus buying all 5 cartridges costs in the "low 3 digits". Remember to recycle the depleted cartridges at Staples and receive a rebate for every cartridge (10 rebates per month) -- this reduces the per cartridge cost. Also get the Staples Rewards card and they send you discount cards in the mail. The cartridges produce great images. The cartridge package has been redesigned ... see photo. The new package is on the left.

It's not what HP claims it to be
I write two letters a week, print out birthday cards for special people, ocassional 4 x 6 photos, meaning perhaps only for the life of the cartridge.

The pictures are very dull, the ink does not last for more than 80 printings. But I am stuck with it since I bought this computer and in no way does it compare with the old Cannon I had and used with refillable ink. The Cannon was MUCH BETTER!
Comments about HP 564XL (CB322WN) Black Photo Ink Cartridge, High Yield:
Bought this printer because ink was so expensive, replaced often, with the last HP. This one is no better! Print quality is good, but very short life and not cheap to replace all the time! The regular double black is just the same, a gimmick as far as I'm concerned. Gets no more printing than the single (says it's double, but same size container).

Q:
I have an HP Photosmart Premium Wireless Fax/Copier/Scanner Series C309. I rarely if ever print photographs. Almost all of my printing is just text. My photo black cartridge seems to need replacing quite often. Why would this be happening? My regular black cartridge seems to last for a good amount of time.
I have the same issue. Open your printer solution center.Should be on your desktop. Then click on settings at the bottom. Then click on printer settings. A window should come up and you will see, printing shorcuts. you can choose General Everyday printing or fast/economical printing. This will help save some ink.Or you can create your own shortcut. I hope this Helps.

Q:
I have a HP B210a printer and can't fit this product in. The ink output seems smaller. This cartridge is slightly narrower than a regular 564 cartridge!
HP is very unclear on this subject!
Does this cartridge not work with a B210a printer?
Should I get a plain non-photo 564XM cartridge?
Is it possible to use get or use a photo-intended back cartridge for the B210a printer?
Verify that you have a B210a and then verify the type of cartridge you are attempting to install. I would contact hp.com and ask them, they are extremely supportive via live chat. The B210a says that you are to be able to use the 564 series of cartridges. Amy

As per HP.com, yes the HP 564XL is for the HP Photosmart Plus e-All-in-One Printer - B210a. The XL would be the high yield cartridges yielding 550 pages & the HP 564 Black is the regular yield cartridge for 250 pages.

Q:
I understand why there are two types of black HP564 cartridges, however in looking over my spare supplies I came across one that I thought was a photo black, but it only says "photo"and not "photo black". So what is this "photo vcartridge?
Photo black is only used when printing images, and black is used when printing text. HP recently changed the packaging of the ink cartridge boxes and the box you have that is just stating "photo" is an old box. If you would like to place an order, please call us at 800-333-3330. You also have the option to order online.

Is this ink #CB322 Blk Photo Ink the same as CB321 Blk Ink? Thanks
The HP 564 Photo Black ink (CB322) and the HP 564 Black ink (CB321) are not the same thing. The Photo Ink is used to print pictures only.

Q:
HAPPY NEW YEAR
I wanted to be clear: The Black Photo Ink does not allow regular printed documents--so if I had entered a caption under the photo, this cartridge will print the Photo only and not the text?
Does the Color Cartidge in this combo prints regular documents? I am using a 60 Cartridge for my HP Deskjet F4435 and it will print my documents even though there is only one Color Catridge-I can print my documets with my color cartridge alone.
Does this Color Cartridge within the Photo Pack print a document if it was loaded without a cartridge? As per the scenario above.
So in essence, I would have to buy both the Photo ink Black and the Photo Ink Color Cartridges if I wanted a better quality photo--so I wont to be able to interchange them....Does that mean when I want to print text documents, I would have to put in A NON PHOTO COLOR CARTRIDGE AND A NON BLACK INK CARTRIDGE AND REMOVE BOTH THE PHOTO INK CARTRIDGES FROM MY PRINTER?
I use this ink cartridge on an HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m printer. My printer has 5 ink cartridge slots: 1 cyan, 1 magenta, 1 yellow, 1 BLACK, and 1 PHOTO BLACK. So there is no need to switch cartridges when switching between document printing and photo printing. The hardware/software knows what it's printing, and pulls the proper ink from the proper cartridge.

Ir your printer takes both a black and a photo black. There is no need to take them out for each process. Your printer will use what is correct for the process automatically.

Q:
If this is needed for photo printing, why is it not available in a combo pack with the other photo colors?
Asked on 11/8/2010 by Nickname:(optional) from Your Location:(optional)
This cartridge is needed for photo printing; you have a separate cartridge for ink-only printing. It is best to buy high-yield cartridges because it is a better value for your money, especially if you are a member of the Staples cartridge return program because you can only return 10 max. This is not offered in a combo pack because the black will expire most quickly, so why purchase the other three cartridges when you only need one?

Q:
Pictures are not printing well. I noticed that the photo black is out but the regular black is full. Do you have to have both cartridges to print photos?
Asked on 5/25/2010 by momgonecrazy from statesville, NC
Yes, you need the photo black cartridge to print photos in addition to the cyan, magenta, and yellow. The additional black cartridge is for printing regular documents, thus cannot be used for photo printing; the ink is a different type.

Q:
What is the difference the large 564AL ink Cartridge and the small 564XL Cartridge?
If you have the Photosmart Plus NO... I say this because I have had HP photo printers before that used the black and photo black interchangeably. So, I assumed that since they were both 564, that it was the same situation. HOWEVER, when I got my ink today after ordering both, the photo black clearly states on the front of the package it does NOT fit the Photosmart Plus printer. I wish I would have read the comments before because I see someone mentioned 564 doesn't fit all printers even though both blacks are 564. So, I wanted to make sure this was in another part of this site.
