We bought an HP Pro p1102w in July 2010. This was our second cartridge. We got 1459 pages out of it, printing a mix of text documents (Word) and web pages (Safari).

At about 1380 pages, it started getting a light stripe. I took out the toner and gently rotated it, and put it back in, allowing us to get about 70 pages more. The rotate trick only worked once.. the next time, it was really out.

[...]When I called HP and talked to some woman she said 1600 pages was for a 5% coverage=a short memo. why don't they put on the box a complete page may yield only 800 pages. HP sticks it to the consumer again. From now on I will shop online and buy generic cartridges @ 4 for the same price.

Has saved me a fortune in difference for buying black inkjet cartridges. I mostly print B/W and laserjet B/W is a fraction of cost to inkjet printing costs. I you print spread sheets and general info from web, there's no need for color, so a good B/W laserjet is the best savings around!

    Does what it should - that is what you need a product of any type to do. I bought this printer because I was tired of always having to replace cartridges in my colour printer. The cartridge lasts a long time and saves me expensive trips to the store, especially when I am in the middle of jobs. I do a lot of charity work and use my printer every day. The initial price is big but cheaper in the long run for sure.

      I have never been able to get more than 500 copies from this particular cartridge. Granted, I do many at a time, so perhaps that isn't as efficient as making copies, but I only get so many copies a year at my job, so I end up printing most of my stuff from my personal computer at home.

        My toner cartridges are averaging 1200 copies per cartridge. Should be getting approximately 1600 pages per. I do not do any special printing, straight text printing and also have the printer set to draft copies to try to extend the lifetime of the toner cartridge. Purchased the printer approximately 18 months old. Can you please let me know why I am not getting as many copies as advertised?

          A:

          The cartridge yeilds up to 1600 pages. However there may be an option with your printer to minimize the amount of ink used. I would check your owners manual or contact HP as there may be this function with your printer.

          The capacities on all Printer, Copiers, Ink Cartridges and Laser cartridges are based on 6% of the page being covered with toner or ink. This is an average size business letter. Any more than that will make the cartride seem to do less. Also on toner cartridges is to shake them side to side when they start to get low so you can get more out of it.
