Q: Hi, I have a HP Office Pro L7680. How often do you need to change the printheads. I have the message on the screen and I tried the auto cleaning and manual and neither works. Is it normal to have to change on a yearly basis or every some many toner cartridges? Before I order both of these I want to make sure there is not any other problem with my printer or this is not normal maintenance. Clark Asked on 8/11/2009 by Anonymous Know the answer? Answer this question 4 answers A: This is normal maintenance. It is based on the number of pages printed. Answered on 8/12/2009 by Customer Service from Staples A: I had this problem as well, however, I did not have any messages that told me so. It was only after attempting trouble shooting myself that I discovered that there was a problem with the Black/Cyan printhead, which are about $80 to replace! After reading another 'answer' to this question, that I called HP Technical Support to inquire about the printhead. I WAS SO GLAD I DID!! The HP technical support representative was SO helpful, he spoke clear English, was patient with me (because I was working front desk customer service myself and had to multi-task)and with his further assistance at trouble shooting, determined that the printhead was faulty. AND because the print head hadn't expired, he will replace the printhead for FREE. I only have to wait 5 days for shipping. Definitely call HP, it is so worth it. I had a great experience. Laura Answered on 3/8/2010 by Laura from Roanoke, VA A: Clark, I have had to replace both printheads multiple times ( 4 black/yellow, 3 red/blue, plus exchanged for a refurbished unit) in just over a year. Check the expiration date on the printhead. HP will replace units not past that date, but in my experience, only after a lengthy discussion with a very difficult to understand offshore rep., and then another week or so for delivery, unless you want to pay $14.95 for express shipment. I have twice ordered from staples and received the printheads the next day. Unfortunately I had to pay for them, but the shipping was FREE! StevieJ Answered on 8/11/2009 by StevieJ from Central IL A: Do yourself a favor and go with another manufacturer. I went through print heads on mine faster than ink cartridges and the price meant I could buy a whole new machine every few months and be better off. I finally did exactly that and am extremely pleased with my choice. Easier set up, installation, print speed, quality color, scanning...the works. Answered on 9/9/2009 by Larry from Frederick, MD
Q: how do I know that a print head would need changed? Asked on 8/5/2009 by Rhonda from PA Know the answer? Answer this question 2 answers A: There will be lines through out the page that you are printing. If it looks like you are running out of ink, but your ink cartridge is fine, then it is your printhead that needs to be changed. Answered on 8/10/2009 by I buy way too many printheads from princeton, IN A: Actually if you go into the OfficeJet Pro series Toolbox application (it can be accessed via the HP Digital Imaging Monitor icon that sits in your icon tray), under the "Informatino" tab there's an option for "Printhead Health." Just click on that, and as long as both printheads are showing "good" then you're OK. If either or both are shown as "Monitor" then you'll most likely need to replace the head soon (especially if lines start showing in your printing and aligning & cleaning functions don't get rid of the lines).Th Answered on 1/7/2011 by The Symposium from Yonkers, NY
