Excelent color contrast

The printer that uses this # ink, is used by three(3) small companys; a construction company, a landscape company and an automobile expediting company.
I also edit, print and distibute a neighborhood news letter to just over 500 homes once a month.
Our computers and printer are "humming" about 16 hours a day.
We all rely on this equipment constantly for performance and speed and accuracy. All of the ink colors are very important for our work to look professional, and that is what we get with the 940 serries.

Deceptive Value

I thought I might be able to save a little bit of money by switching to an HP printer that uses individual cartridges for each color of ink... instead of a tri-color cartridge. ...Read complete review

I thought I might be able to save a little bit of money by switching to an HP printer that uses individual cartridges for each color of ink... instead of a tri-color cartridge. WRONG. HP has the basic printing settings such that colors (like yellow) get spewed out under the black ink, regardless of whether or not you need to be using them. You blow through a cartidge lickety split! And they're PRICEY, too! Nasty tactic by HP, that. Unless you need to print something in color, I recommend you set your print settings to grayscale as the default and leave it there. I'm not sure that'll stop what HP programmed to happen, but it couldn't hurt. Also, as I've noted in another review today, Staples used to be able to produce a competing product for HP Printer Ink cartridges... but then HP did something to the design and software for their printers (and cartridges, possibly) that precludes others from making competing compatible ink products. I know, because I used the more cost-effective Staples cartidges and was unable to continue doing so one day after an HP Printer software update download and installation. With a monopoly on what types of ink products can be used with HP Printers, HP has no motivation to improve performance or price of their related ink products... and isn't doing it. Everybody loses in that situation, except the greedy managers and stockholders for HP. We use more ink, go through more cartridges and pay higher prices than we would in a market that allowed open competition. These are all counterproductive with regard to social responsibility. Shame on you, HP. HP ink cartridges will never be able to be better than 'okay', until there is a competing product allowed to compare them to. When the Staples ink cartridges could be used in the HP printers, they were lower-priced and at least as good with regard to other performance and value factors, as those available from HP. I find the bottom line ('Yes, I would recommend this to a friend' OR 'No, I would not recommend this to a friend') deceptive because... if you want to use an HP Printer, you MUST use an HP cartridge. What else COULD anybody recommend?!
