Although I usually cringe at the price of an HP replacement cartridge, the quality is worth it. I have tried some of the remanufactured cartridges, but the quality is not up to what I require for business purposes. I have never had a problem with an HP cartridge.

Needs more capacity

Why don't you carry the 92298X? The capacity is much better. I'll have to see who else carries the larger capacity toner since you don't.

    After checking on line I determined that this HP toner cartridge would work in my Apple printer. I called local Staples store and was told they had it in stock which made it convenient for me to purchase it immediately so that I could continue with printing out documents to meet a deadline. If I had to order it from somewhere else it would have taken at least one day and I would have had to pay overnight shipping charges. More importantly I would have missed the deadline.

      This toner is huge and expensive, but we print a lot and it seems to last approx. 6 months. The printing on the page is light, but it's probably because the printer is so old.

      Only the HP 98 "A" version is now available. Used to buy the HP 98 "X" version which lasted longer and was more cost effective.

      Used this toner for many years in an old, very reliable HP LaserJet 4m printer for a home typesetting business.

              A:

              X just means you get more copies from the cartridge. It should fit without a problem. Check your owner's manual to make sure you're inserting it correctly. Also, did you remove the thin film covering, over the dispensing area, on the new cartridge?

              I had never looked for a date before, but I see that the box (NOT the cartridge) for my most recent purchase does bear a human-recognizable date (about seven months old).
              I've never thought I had a problem with "settling," but I think the question is almost irrelevant, as one ought to rotate the cartridge vigorously before breaking the seal (I know I always do--have been doing so for at least twenty years with all laser printer toner cartridges)
