To get your dollars worth you must enable the OVERRIDE WHEN OUT option.

I have been printing for quite some time now this way. HP won't guarantee print quality once you use this option but why waste all that toner just print till there is a print quality issue and replace cartridge.

Second, you can change print density to lower toner usage. I haven't seen a difference between default and the lower setting.

Just ways to make your cartridge go much further. Either use your menu on printer, HP Toolbox to make changes. On network connected printers you can also access printer by using your internet browser to change options by putting printer network address in browser address bar.

Let me preface this review by stating I own a HP Laser Jet 4MP (B&W only) that is 20+ years old, produces very nice output and simply won't die, however it requires an adapter to run with new computers making it even slower than it would otherwise be ....and that would be pretty slow from the start. Nevertheless the old Laserjet MP has been quite economical to run and is built like a tank so I thought I'd stick with HP. Bad decision.

As a professional photographer everything I produce is a reflection of my business/quality which was the impetus behind my decision to purchase a color Laser printer. I am quite pleased with this product in that respect.

As a small business owner it is imperative I get the very best bang for my buck which is where this product and printer (HP Laser Jet CP2025) fall far short of my expectations.

This machine is very expensive to run, cleans itself all the time requires far more ink than competitors.

Various Staples rewards and incentives lessen the pain but IMO the ink should last longer and not cost so ridiculously much.
