      Comments about HP� Color LaserJet M551xh Printer:

      Received the printer very promptly - it arrived in 2 days, a full week ahead of the projected delivery date. Easy to unpack and to set up, although at nearly 90 pounds, it definitely requires two people. In our application it is a network printer. Our initial printing all looks great, but the installation process was a nightmare. The software assumes that the computer will be connected directly to a single computer via a USB cable, rather than via Ethernet and instructs you to not initially connect the cable. The CD supplied is the latest version of the install software, but is hopeless. We attempted to install on 5 machines: 2 Windows XP, 1 Vista, 1 Windows 7 and 1 Windows 8 machine. The software only successfully ran on the Vista computer. On all the other machines, the software would hang with an unspecified error while 78 to 99% complete in the initialization phase. On the two XP machines, we finally just downloaded the drivers and manually installed them. On the Windows 7 and 8 machines, we opted to use universal drivers. It took over 3 hours to install on the 5 machines.

      So far we are very happy with the printouts for invoices and colored details in instruction manuals, but have not yet tried to see how it renders a photograph.
