I was taken with the beauty of this printer. I stared at it for 30 minutes in the store and bought it out of my desire to patronize the arts! I actually didn't need a printer at the time. The setup was simple, although it took a while. I could have saved some time if I had known I could bypass the included CD and just go directly to the web. The software download also took a while. That said, the software and printer were easy to get working. One slight snag is that the scanner seemed confused when I ran several scans in a row, although I don't seem to see that problem now. Perhaps I was hitting an option out of sequence. The printing quality thus far is excellent, and the printer itself is proving to be stunningly beautiful in operation. Someone at HP is a true genius.

Oh, did I ever want to love this printer. It was great for the first week or so.
Then, the issues started. It doesn't like macs and the help services offered are more dedicated to PC's.
All of a sudden, it got slower and slower. I went to the website for help. Very little for Macs. I did tests that got me nowhere. It remained slow. I thought it was my computer. I followed the confusing directions and it remained slow as a snail. I was getting ready to reload the disc.
I then decided to turn the printer "OFF" then "ON".
It started working again.
Not great for photos.
Paper Jams.
Eats a lot of ink.
I would have been happier with a much cheaper ALL-IN ONE.
This baby was just too expensive.

Most printers these days are packed with a hundred different functional features but are large, ugly and poorly built. This is a beautiful machine, very clean design, compact, well constructed, easy to use with a downward looking glass scanner so that you can see what is being copied.

Very easy setup if you use the online versus the CD. Replaced a expensive Lexmark piece of junk with this HP and life is now good when printing documents. Does what you ask it to do. I have not had it but a few days but so far I love it. Hope I am not disappointed later. Have not had to try customer support and hope I don't have to so I can not comment on that.

Does this printer stop printing when it thinks it is out of ink or can you keep printing? Can you print in black if the color is completely empty?

  The HP ENVY 120 e-All-in-One Printer will automatically switch to printing in black ink if the color ink cartridge is empty. If both black and color cartridges are empty, the printer will not print.

Does this printer give you the option of printing one side to one side in the print settings?, or does it only print 2-sided copies?

  You have both options with this printer. The description mentions automatic duplex (2-sided) printing, but this only happens when you choose the option in the print window. It's your choice. The call it automatic duplex because the printer will flip the page for you, while some printers will print the odd numbered pages and force you to insert the output back into the printer so that it can print the even numbered pages.
