I love the lightweight package and fast operation. Still getting used to Win 8, but it's pretty good.

I would love a true docking station, but a (hard-to-find) USB 3.0 hub will suffice. But my biggest gripe is the design and location of the power plug. It's a straight plug, and sits in the exact spot that a right-handed person would use a mouse (only 90% of the population). Incredibly bad design on a computer that was otherwise well designed. If they'd offer a better plug/cord, I'd buy it to fix this issue.

Microsoft Windows 8 is bar far their worst operating system, I now have no choice but to go buy Apple products. That being said, within a week of purchase I noticed that the keyboard was defective. I did a Google search, and found hundreds of others with the same exact problem. The space bar has dead zones on the lower portion, so every word you type gets connected to the next words. I have been typing on a laptop for almost 15 years, and never had a problem like this. Even after repair by HP, same problem although only in one spot now. Then when I got this laptop back from HP repair, I immediately started experiencing a new problem. After speaking with tech support at HP, this new laptop needs a motherboard or Intel processor replacement. Do yourself a favor, buy anything but this HP ENVY 1130us. Hopefully HP's Customer Satisfaction department will look into this.

I was a little hesitant to order it, since I'd read a lot of negatives regarding windows 8. I'm not very techy, but I've found windows 8, and the features on this machine great! Really fast, and actually very user friendly. The computer was ready on time and the staff very accomodating and helpful!

Was a little leery about how well I would like the Windows 8 operating system but it has turned out to be quite intuitive and I have found many similarities with MAC which was the first computer I learned on. Have been able to figure out most operations on my own except for how to set the correct time!! But that is the least of my issues. Love the color trueness. Pictures are awesome. And the fast response time is second to none. I am very pleased with this purchase and have the technical staff at Staples for their help and recommendations. They were right on!

So for the pro's, Its a great, light weight ultra book. It eels feather light at barely 3 1/2 pounds, its a great laptop to bring every where. The battery life isn't the 7.5 listed on the website, but its still good at about 5-6 depending n screen brightness and whether or not the back lit keys are turned on. The screen settings make the colors look a little dull, but you can easily fix that. The track pad is also a little slow for my taste, but that's once again fixable. The solid state drive helps the laptop boot in seconds, getting you to you're favorite programs and websites; provided your not using internet explorer. The power button is a little stiff, but that's an issue on quite a few hp models. Audio is also great, not because of beats, but because of the fact that the speakers are on the top of the keyboard instead under the laptop, lessening the chance of muffled sound. Overall, its a great, portable lightweight laptop that just takes a little bit of tweaking to reach perfection

It's an average "ultrabook", not especially light, mediocre display. To tell the truth, it didn't seem to be much of an upgrade over my four year old (ssd-equipped) Dell Adamo, physically, though it has more power (processor, 6 gigs ram). Might be perfectly fine for many, but I ended up returning it. There are more interesting machines out there, e.g ones with touch screens for Win 8, at least.

  The manufacturer puts the operating system on the SSD to take advantage of the faster boot time. The system restore is also on that drive.

This is advertised as being able to get emails while in sleep mode, So I assume it would keep an active internet connection but after having this computer for 2 weeks it has yet to stay online while in sleep mode and ha a 1 minute lag time to get internet upon wake up. Is there a setting I can get to keep it active?

  Emails should come through during sleep mode if you are connected to the internet. There is a setting on the compute in the " network settings" to enable your computer to stay connected to the internet at all times as long as your connection is not dial-up

  The product manual from the HP website lists the hard drive as a 7mm SATA 2.5". There are two RAM memory slots with 6GB installed, 16GB of compatible RAM is supported.
