I have owned just about all of the Apple portable products released in the last 5 years and I can honestly say that I am stunned by the fit and finish of this non Apple device! I absolutely love the way this little machine acts as both a tablet and a laptop.

I was originally going to wait for the Microsoft surface pro but when I head that it was only going to have a 4 hr battery life I was discouraged and when I heard that it was going to have a fan inside of it I was totally out. I do no not like having a machine setting on my lap getting hot and being noisy.

I bought the Samsung ativ 500 1st and right out of the box I had severe issues with it. The tab would not stay docked to the keyboard and would just cycle over and over again trying to connect. I quickly returned it. In my opinion it looks as if the problem has to do with the design, the plastics won't let it get a good connection. "Look it up on google, looks like a major flaw"

Next I bought the Lenovo twist, although a good machine it was bulky and not my style so I decided to return it as well.

So I left staples empty handed and confused. They had a display Envy but not one in stock so I was torn as to what I wanted to do. I looked at MacBook airs and contemplated that but I knew I wanted Windows 8 and the convertible machine. I decided to call Staples on the 22nd of Dec and ask them if they had an Envy in Stock and the gentleman said that they did! I hurried over and picked it up and well. . . I love it

The display reacts just as good as the competition. The fit and finish is awesome and the speakers are decent for a tablet. The battery life is amazing, it has 2 batteries, one in the keyboard and one in the tablet. There are 2 USB ports a standard SD slot and a micro SD slot. The machine is zippy for what I do, mainly running small programs and working on the web. Not sure how it would do with large programs.

Windows 8 takes a couple of days to get used to but once you do you will love it. DOWNLOADING A START BUTTON IS A MUST!! I HAVE CLASSIC SHELL AND I COULDN'T USE WINDOWS WITHOUT... The start button makes Windows stand out from the rest IMO
However I am getting used to the new Start menu with live tiles, I will most likely continue using the old "desktop"

Most Helpful Negative Review

Perfect for me except

After months of research and comparing products, I decided the Envy was the best fit for me. Having health issues, I needed something light and maneuverable and having a laptop/tablet option seemed perfect for the days I was limited. The Envy had the best ratings compared to the Ativ and the Lynx. Not sure if the issues are due to Windows 8 or not, but my thought is if you're selling a product, work the bugs out BEFORE you put it to market, otherwise you get poor reviews and loads of returns. After owning the Envy for 5 days and getting the blue screen of death on day 5, I got fed up and returned it.

There were 5-15 second delays for a page to load, 5-10 second delays from when I would type to when it appeared on the screen, I tried playing a couple of games and one game kept freezing up and the other game had a delay from when I clicked on the item to when it moved. I detached the screen and tried it as a tablet and the same thing happened. Pages froze up once loaded or kept loading, I had to shut down and reboot several times and eventually lost my patience and gave up.

It's such a shame this product is so glitchy since it seemed like the perfect fit for me. In spite of getting it on sale, even if the price were slashed considerably more, I would not buy it again.

This tablet is very well built. I am very impressed by the aluminum body. It feels like a macbook air (for the poor, of course). I initially worried about the low resolution. However, it appears to be adequate for the small screen. The tablet itself is a pleasure to use. I watched lots of hulu.com video and the battery didn't drain much and the tablet did not get warm either. Don't under why the i5-3317U based ultrabooks generate so much heat (fan noises) when watching similar videos. Also impressive is the long battery life.

However, when using this machine as a laptop with keyboard, the problem arises. Very often a single intended letter becomes two or more unless I type extremely slowly. This can be a big problem for user names and especially passwords. Of course, it would be better if the keyboard has backlight.

Great answer for travel/Vacation in addition to normal used. Combines the freatures of a PC and a Pad. Allows the addition of memeory with either Micro SD or Std Sd card. Godd web browsing. Windows 8 takes some getting used to but the Std desktop view is available and familiar.

I know just enough to "make me dangerous" I like the fact that this converts to a tablet while it has a big enough screen to read easily. It also has Microsoft home and student so I can do my basic letters, spreadsheets, etc. Perfect for someone like me who just needs a basic computer. The total battery life is outstanding.

  Yes. They work automatically with the HP ENVY x2 11-g010nr because it has a very sensitive touch-screen feature. However, HP recommends that you look for the stylus models with the rubber tip.
  This way, you will have more precise points while avoiding scratches on the screen.
