Solid laptop and tablet - with full Win8

This laptop/tablet is very well designed and made. It is not like those tablets with cheap add-on keyboards. The laptop has a full-fledged keyboard and is quite solid. The tablet easily disconnects and connects with a button located directly under the screen.

The screen is touch - which makes Windows 8 easier to use both on the tablet and laptop. It has the full version of Windows 8, not the stripped down RT version. I was surprised at how easy it is to use in both forms.

If you are used to the Core Intel processors, the Atom processor may seem a little underpowered, but it is fine for most uses - Internet, email, entertainment, productivity. The tablet does everything any other tablet does. And the hard drive is superfast but could be bigger...

But - overall - this ia a really smart, small, portable and well designed laptop and tablet. Highly recommended!

Perfect for me except

After months of research and comparing products, I decided the Envy was the best fit for me. Having health issues, I needed something light and maneuverable and having a laptop/tablet option seemed perfect for the days I was limited. The Envy had the best ratings compared to the Ativ and the Lynx. Not sure if the issues are due to Windows 8 or not, but my thought is if you're selling a product, work the bugs out BEFORE you put it to market, otherwise you get poor reviews and loads of returns. After owning the Envy for 5 days and getting the blue screen of death on day 5, I got fed up and returned it.

There were 5-15 second delays for a page to load, 5-10 second delays from when I would type to when it appeared on the screen, I tried playing a couple of games and one game kept freezing up and the other game had a delay from when I clicked on the item to when it moved. I detached the screen and tried it as a tablet and the same thing happened. Pages froze up once loaded or kept loading, I had to shut down and reboot several times and eventually lost my patience and gave up.

It's such a shame this product is so glitchy since it seemed like the perfect fit for me. In spite of getting it on sale, even if the price were slashed considerably more, I would not buy it again.

This thing is great! People that try to compare it negatively to high end laptops are being silly. That is not what this is. It's a tablet (better than an IPad....full Windows 8, USB, HDMI, SD card slots, etc..) that is also a sweet laptop when connected to the base. It has a very sturdy feel to it (all aluminum case) and really looks great.

Have been looking for the right tablet for a long time and I believe that I found it in the HP Envy x2. I love windows 8 I find it easy and fast. Have had some of my IT friends look at it and they are impressed to the point of wanting to purchase same. HP and windows have done a great job with this new "laptop" and Tablet combination. There are lots of apps for it, the screen is really good and I have bad eyes. I have only had it for a week and am still learning about it but so far it is fabulous. I would recommand this product to anyone looking for a fun tablet as well as a productive computer.

I had read numerous reviews and watched countless YouTube videos before buying the Envy x2. Sure, Staples' great deal gave me the jolt I needed to actually buy it, but I had been eyeing it up for months. I own a mega-powerful workstation for my media production needs, so I was looking for a daily driver for email, business work and showing video to clients. I am amazed at how smooth and fluid the Envy x2 is. I previously owned a Surface RT, which didn't do it for me. The Envy x2 is a giant leap above the Surface RT. I am incredibly pleased with my purchase.

The Envy x 2 is the Cadillac of touch pads! Its looks are sleek and modern, its speed is fantastic, the graphics and overall screen clarity and color is suberb. Lesser models are just that--lesser!

Actually, we purchased two (2) Envy x 2 units. My wife was the intended user, but when I was helping her set it up, I fell in love with this machine! She is no fool. The next day she traveled to Staples and purchased a unit for me so I would use hers!

Staples had the best pricing and great product knowledge in our area. Staples also includes free training if need and requested

  Yes, it can. It runs the Windows 8 includes HDMI video out. You may need an adapter if you will be using an over head projector, since many installations still rely on VGA connections. That's not really a problem. It's just one adapter you may want to add to your travel bag. The computer also does not include Microsoft PowerPoint so you will need to purchase a license separately.
