Answer this question 1 answer A: Some HP printers cannot print the last 1/4 inch of a page. I would assume this is why the extra 1/4 inch. I know on some of their older papers there was a perforation to remove that 1/4 inch after printing. It was a very fine perforation, not noticeable unless you were looking for it, and the paper was not marked for which end to feed in first. Recently I found reason to use up some older 4"x6" HP photo paper. It wasn't until after I had printed on it that I remembered the perforation. That was, of course, after I had printed right over the perforation on a bunch of pages. I find both kinds very annoying, but if I have to pick between the two, I prefer this paper because you can't loose a bunch of photos by accidentally printing over the perforation. Please note that paper that is too thin, paper that has a slick texture or paper that stretches easily can cause paper jams. It helps if your picture software on your computer is capable of enhancing the original picture! I always use my software to make the picture as pleasing as possible, ie, increasing sharpness, color saturation, and contrast. Not all pix need a lot of enhancing, but it definitely helps the final printed image!
