The printer footprint is not overwhelming. It is quiet, holds over a ream of paper, prints clearly and quickly. It has a front-loading paper tray which is handy. The toner cartridge is also loaded from the front, making changing easy. The prints per minute is high enough so that you don't feel like you are waiting forever for prints to emerge. warm-up time is a little slower than I would like, but it too is tolerable. We have an older HP Laser Jet 4250 which has really been a workhorse and we wanted another HP printer as backup. The M601n seems perfectly capable of doing the job of the 4250 and that is reassuring. It's a great printer. I just wish there was a manual and somewhere to look up icons that appear in the little window on the front. I did not get much help from the HP website because I did not want to download and print a 150+ page document that was more about service and repair than it was about everyday use.

After installing the dual tray with this printer, will it have the capability of printing PDF files with different paper sizes automatically by using a MAC computer. This would mean that if you had a PDF document with multiple sizes, it will print each page the correct size.

  Yes, as long as you are using Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader to view your PDF, the program will direct a dual tray printer to automatically print different size pages from the PDF. Foxit Reader and other PDF programs do not typically support this ability.
