Q: I'm getting some kind of smudge down the right side of the paper when I print. I have cleaned the cartridge roller and other rollers in the printer, but the same smudge is still there. Could this be a bad cartridge? Asked on 9/28/2011 by Anonymous Know the answer? Answer this question 2 answers A: According to the manual you can do the following: â— If toner smears appear on the leading edge of the media, the media guides might need to be wiped with a dry, lint-free cloth. â— Try a different quality paper with 4 to 6% moisture content, possibly a 100 or 250 Sheffield paper. â— If the fuser temperature is too low, make sure the appropriate media type is selected in your printer properties â— Test again by running another printout in quiet mode. You do this by opening the printer properties, click on "Device Settings Tab" and then enable Quiet Mode. â— Suggest installing a new cartridge.
