This was the best purchase I've ever made. Had to order DC cord seperate but it was worth it. Compact printer with 3-in-1 capability is great for on the road.

  Both machines have the same 600x600dpi optical resolution. The Scan Snap has better hardware resolution at 600x1200dpi in "Excellent Mode". The scanning software of the Scan Snap is quite feature ladened. The Scan Snap is designed specifically for scanning vice the HP, which is primarily a printer. If you are looking to do a lot of scanning, the Scan Snap is the better choice.
