I had another HP printer that was smaller and did not hold up under heavy printing. It is in repair now so I bought this one on a late Tuesday night of frustration and crisis and it is great. I have had it for 10 days and have put about 7 reams of 24# paper through it already (working on a reunion book) and it is performing great. Got another 10 reams to go!!

Save your money and buy another brand.

I bought this and returned it 14 days later for a full refund. This is definitely not worth the purchase price and is really over-rated on Staples.com and hp.com. It takes a long time preparing when first turned on. Paper jams are frequent. You have to pull out the tray to load paper rather than just lift a lid to see/load paper. Photo quality of printed color photos is poor. I had difficulty trying to connect it wireless. Tech assistance was useless in trying to help solve my problems with set-up. HP products are no longer as excellent as they once were.

On our network it will work from 2 terminals, but the third has to be shut down and restarted daily for print jobs to print on this printer. It may work better if it were wired in.

I'm confused by the comment that this is not a wireless printer, but that it can be connected wirelessly.

I have a wired/wireless network in our home, with one computer that is hardwaired and one that operates wirelessly. I need a printer that can be accessed readily by both computers. The network has strong WEP protection. Can I use the HP 8100 in that application?
