This printer was primarily purchased for use in an engineering environment for 11" x 17" B&W printing. The price was excellent (bought on sale) and the quality of print is also excellent. Network setup was a breeze.

The surprise was in the the photo reproduction. I expected that this would be OK but not great. I was pleasantly surprised that it actually produced excellent photo quality prints.

My only complaint is that the heads do a lot of moving after a print is completed and may delay the start of another print job. While "large footprint" was listed as a negative, this was expected for a wide format printer.

I bought this printer as a replacement when my HP Deskjet 9800 died, to print half size architectural drawings and office documents. But it is lacking in important features of the 9800.
1. No bypass tray for inserting a few sheets (a big drawback when I switch back & forth from 8 1/2x11 to 11x17 all day).
2. No watermark feature (such as draft) in the print setup.
3. Uses a lot of ink.
4. Margins are bigger than the 9800. I have to print "borderless" to get my existing documents to fit, which prints much slower.

I solved the ink problem by purchasing a refill kit with refillable cartridges. You have to switch the chip, but it is not a big deal. Don't try to refill the original cartridges.

Other than the above, the print quality is very good and it prints very fast.

I needed a printed that would print on 13x19 paper - mostly mechanical plans, but something that would also print occasional letter size graphics on cardstock. This printer does both for the right price! HP is always user friendly which is a plus!

I purchased the printer for printing 11x17 technical drawings in black. I found that with a good quality paper it prints as good as a color laser. Also was impressed with the ink drying speed. With a very glossy print there was no need to delay for ink drying.

Really a decent art printer if you don't need to use pigment based ink. I wouldn't print prints for sale on it, but it's great for portfolios, catalogs, and general photo printing.

Purchased this to print B size (11" x 17") technical drawings, mainly B&W. Had it for a month and it works fine. Pretty good selection of the options (paper size, type..). Also, no problems running via it built in Ethernet port. Would recommend it for a small office.
