This printer is really a complete "print shop in a box", and will be best utilized by those requiring longer run lengths at a reasonable/reduced output cost.

The ProX series printers represent a new level in inkjet technology with their "Pagewide" print heads. The 8.575" wide head is stationary (no back and forth movement) which allows for up to 70 pages per minute output.

Text is sharp, and colors are bright, although not quite on a par with a laser printer. The "Professional" quality/speed setting is best for most output. The "General Office" setting offers the highest speed, but with slightly reduced text sharpness and mildly muted colors. The "Presentation"(highest quality) mode seems unnecessary.

There is a similar wide-head inkjet process known as Memjet, but their C6010 printer is twice as expensive with less than half the feature-set. Additionally, the Pro X ink is pigment based (fast drying and permanent), while the Memjet is aqueous (never dries fully).

You can also print envelopes, although they print very slowly and with just a bit of edge crinkling - not really objectionable. The main tray holds a full 500 sheets of 20 lb. and a second tray can be added. This is helpful if your run lengths are long. Duplexing is standard.

Ink is reasonably priced, but costs can mount quickly if your printed pieces have heavy coverage.

As an owner of several high-end color laser printers, I would say this is the new standard in color office printing whenever speed and cost are important considerations.
