My son's 17" Dell crashed it after 3 years of use very disappointed, will never buy Dell again and we found this one on sale at Staple. He loves everything about this laptop; said Windows 8 is little challenging in beginning but once you get hang on it you would love it. Skype is preinstalled; he loves that he could watch video on YouTube and browse web at the same time on same screen. He could not download certain games on his old i5 Dell laptop but he downloaded same games on this i3 laptop and plays on bright 17" big screen. This is THE BEST DEAL; I looked every place for same laptop, THANK YOU Staples. We are very pleased with our purchased and looking for same sale again so I could buy one more for me.

I would not purchase this computer. It fell apart easily and did not do what I wanted it to, which is to have the DVD drive work and not mess up the computer. I had to replace the computer two times before I finally just returned it. I was on the phone and internet chat with HP a LOT and not a whole lot was getting resolved. The first computer crashed when I used the DVD drive, the second computer never registered the DVD's and the CD's that I would put in it so it would ask me if I wanted to format these items. The third computer never allowed the computer, the control panel or pretty much anything else for that matter to be typed into the search charm and actually come up. I got a whole lot of nothing.

I am not a fan of the new Windows 8, which is much more difficult to navigate, in my opinion, than previous versions. The larger touchpad gets in the way when using the keypad, and causes strange things to happen when your hands inadvertently touch it. Also, the keys seem to need a firm stroke, so I am often missing letters as I type. I do think it is a fine computer for the price, and I am sure others would be happy with it, and I'm sure I will get more comfortable with it as I use it more. I love the large screen.

Windows 8 is not user friendly. I'm having problems setting up mail to work with live mail- which is the only way to get mail. Also having problems just getting live mail. I have a transcript from road runner - with an apology of all the steps neccessary to get Windows 8 to take my Internet mail provider. RIDICULOUS! Spent several hours on it already. Again - computer probably okay - when I get to use it. Still got to set up a new network and hope it is easier.
I like the weight and size of this computer. Would recommend the computer - not Windows 8.

the Hdmi does not display on my tv. I use the same cable that the dvd was hooked up with and it worked fine, but there doesn't appear to be any thing coming out of the HDMI port. And HDMI does not show up on the graphices card menu? help
