This is a nice, small, fast computer that was easy to set up. However, with the Windows 8 loaded in it, it makes it difficult to manuever. You have to put in a password every time you log on and you have to go through a few screens to completely shut off the computer. I'm sure with some training, I could figure this out. Oh yeah, the numbers lock has to be re-engaged every time you turn on the computer. My Kaspersky software won't work in it and I will probably find out that other programs won't either, and then I'll have to buy new stuff, but then again, isn't that why they keep changing things?

I find it difficult to have several tabs open and search other materials simultaneously. the machine locks up while the laptop G62 HP running side by side performs fine on the same functions and info being obtained .. so it is not the service provider AT&T ... and it is not user friendly in getting icons set up or accessing specific programs... all and in all, not happy with this product... of course, im told that the Windows 8 operating system is much to blame for locking up...

Overall, this seems like a good machine. No built in wifi so you need to buy an adapter. So far, I hate windows 8. For personal use so this should be more than adequate for me.

Comments about HP Pavilion p6-2376 Desktop PC:

I bought this machine to replace an old Dell computer that I have had for several years. I bought it on Black Friday for an excellent price at Staples. Even if it was not on sale, I think this would be a very good machine for the home. I was counting on HP's reputation for solid products and I have not been disappointed. The machine came with an AMD A4 processor, which is not very powerful, but I am not a gamer and this seems to be sufficient for regular home use. The machine also has 6GB RAM memory and 1TB hard drive, which is higher than most computers in this class. I mostly use this HP computer to surf the internet and it is very fast. The computer came with Windows 8. Right now, Windows 8 seems to be more show than performance enhancing. It is confusing and seems to take more steps and is less intuitive than the old Windows XP that I was using in the past. It will probably take a while to get used to. As of now, I have used this HP p6-2376 one month. I am very satisfied and would recommend this computer.

Comments about HP Pavilion p6-2376 Desktop PC:

My old computer had Windows XP and Windows 8 is really different and I am still learning all the things it can do and the programs that came on it. If you have one of the new phones with all the apps on it (which I don't) Windows 8 would probably be pretty easy to learn and understand. I am 69 so it has been frustrating at times to learn things and remember how I got there in the first place LOL. I've had it now for about 4 months and it is getting easier everyday. The apps idea is a really good thing I think - everything is on one page so that makes it easy to find. The one thing I really like is that when you hit the Desktop tab it takes you to a page that is like my old page on my XP computer - that makes it really nice. So all in all I am very happy with my purchase of this computer!!

            A full-size ATX board is 12 in × 9.6 in (305 mm × 244 mm). This allows many ATX form factor chassis to accept microATX boards as well.This Computer's dimensions are(L x W x H)

        • Q:

          I have two questions:

-Can this computer be set up to run on wireless internet? Can't set up a direct line to the PC due to the amount of products I have running off of the internet in my house.

-Can I hook up this tower to my TV? I don't have a monitor (and can't afford one at the moment) because I've recently been using laptops only.

          • A:

This computer does not have a wireless adapter, but you can get USB adapters that will connect to a wireless network. They are very inexpensive! Here is an example of one: http://www.staples.com/Belkin-N300-Micro-Wireless-USB-Adapter/product_927375 You will not be able to hook this up through your television because it lacks an HDMI port.

Does this computers motherboard have a built in dial-up-networking modem? If not, what does it have for PCI slots and if I open the case to install a PCI modem does this violate any warranty?
          Asked on 12/18/2012 by Steven

          1 answer

          • A:

This does not have a dial-up modem built in. For PCI slots, it has 1 PCI Express x16 (Gen 2.0), 3 PCI Express x1 (Gen 2.0) and 1 PCI Express Mini Card (Gen 2.0).

You will need to buy additional hardware to wirelessly connect this desktop. The reference link mentions three ways. Personally, I use a USB adapter. It's the most convenient and hassle-free.just plug the device in, run the set-up, and you're done.
