Didn't get off to a good start when I tried to install my own Norton 360 AV from a disc, and the new HP told me I had to uninstall its factory-supplied 90-day version first. At which time the whole thing locked up trying to uninstall. It also locked up when I tried to install printer S/W, and keeps refusing to print from Adobe Reader, saying an error occurred and I have to re-load the printer S/W. Getting old.
It has a lot of capabilities and features for the price, but lacks many basic freeware tools, like Java RTE. My old machines always had some abbreviated version of MS dB Works, too, but this one doesn't, so I can't open my Xmas card label address lists.

Comments about HP Pavilion p7-1226s Desktop PC:

We've owned this computer for only a couple of months now, but the setup was typical of an HP desktop Windows 7 machine, fairly easy, and it's been running smoothly ever since.. We're using it in a home network as the main desktop with a printer attached and other computers are networked to this machine.. After removing some of the unnecessary programs HP installed, the 6 GB of RAM and he 3.4 GHZ i-3 processor allow it to function decently with minimal graphics work and videos.

The HP A 1240 is a 5+ year old Pent 4 desktop, there is no comparison. The P7-1226 is 3 times as fast, has 3 times the memory and runs Windows 7 64-bit. The P7 is excellent choice for an upgrade from the A 1240n.

                A:

The HP p7-1226s Desktop is a more up to date system then compared to the A1240N model which was brought into the market back in 2005. The HP p7 has 6GB's of RAM and a 1TB hard drive. The A1240n offered 1GB of RAM and a 200GB hard drive. It offers the newest Windows 7 operating system, while the A1240n had Window XP w/SP 2 operating system. For today's fast paced computing, the HP p7 is a far more superior machine, with the most current upgrades in computer components.
