the only problem I've had is the faulty ink cartridge that came with the printer. Once I replaced that (after 2 hours of wasted time with HP support - don't bother calling them) the printer works great. I bought this to replace my old Photosmart 7550 that died on me. GREAT photo printing so far! Vivid colors - good definition - no problems working with Photoshop that I have seen(only had it for 1 1/2 wks)

when I first received this printer and started the setup procedure it would only go to the align cart. step and hang up. I called the HP tec. support and after hours on the phone they decided something was wrong with the printer and said they would send me a refurbished one in place of the BRAND NEW one I had just purchased. so their supervisor was to call me after the weekend because I refufed a refurbished one. [...] HP did call be back after the weekend.[...] the man said they could send me a new one. no need now I told him.

I am mostly printing posters with the B8550. The posters looked great but the amount of ink in the small cartriges were used up too quickly considering the price of the cartridges. You can opt to buy the XL cartridges which are supposed to give you about 2.5 times as much printing but only costs about twice as much as the regular cartridges. I haven't tried them yet.

I really enjoy the ability to print photos in a larger format. I can get them whenever I want them and don't have to send them off. That was the main reason I bought the printer, and I have been quite satisfied.
