Having the replacement toner cartridge available locally was great! You never run out except when you're in the middle of a project.

Reliable performer but pricey

Although pricier than re-manufactured toner cartridges, we prefer OEM because of bad experiences with no-name generics and non-OEM products. The higher price per page is offset by reliability and consistent performance of the printer versus what happens to our printouts when we don't use OEM. With HP our printouts and copies are clean, sharp and consistent.

However the necessarily small cartridge size means users must replace them more often. We have no issues with the performance of the product. However I would seriously consider less expensive alternatives if the quality and reliability of an alternate printer and toner were comparable or better.

Everyone knows this product and the 2840 are programmed to rip the consumer off. Sorry I ever bought the unit. I will NEVER buy a HP printer/laser jet again.
