Run a non-profit, tried the refills and darn near ruined my printer. The three-pack helps keep costs lower, recycling saves you another $3 - or $9 per 3-pack, [...] Gets the cost per toner cartridge down close to the refiller, but with the assurance that it won't fail on you.

I still say that if HP and other printer makers are going to charge such high prices for toners and inks, that they should just give the printers away---and give users some bit of value for our monty.

I have replaced all 4 of the toners several times in my 1600 and it still prints sharp. I wouldn't mind if the toners where cheaper in cost but the I haven't had any issues with the quality so I'm a happy camper.
